The UB7-S GT-2160™ sneaker is a collaboration between Kiko Kostadinov Studio and the ASICS SportStyle development team. The design draws inspiration from Interlaced Assemblages, Functional Utopias, and Mino Ceramics. It combines soft textures with handcrafted elements found in iconic artwork, creating matte and washed color appearances and enhancing the heritage running shoe's archival shape and construction. The design features grid-like patterns and bold opaque colors inspired by Functional Utopia, while glossy primary colorways and metallic structures accentuate the double-layer mesh materialization. The designers also explored Mino ceramic influences, investigating contemporary processes to recreate the rust-like qualities found in Mino glazes. This process aims to create a timeless look with degraded colors, much like imagery in art.
